Job description

Event Managers hold a valid and current security guard license, or jurisdictional equivalent, manages events and directs Event Staff Supervisors/Event Staff and provides guidance, either directed or personal action for appropriate responses to field situations based on company, client and/or venue policies and procedures. Directly reports to Houston Branch Manager and assists with maintaining current client relations for the branch by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain a valid and current security guard license or its equivalent as required in the jurisdiction where the employee works
  • Teach and enforce operating standards
  • Serves as a principal source of information on rules and procedures governing security and other event management operations
  • Communicate with and “brief” event staff
  • Manage supervisors/staff responsible for event coordination activities
  • Coordinate details of events such as sporting events, concerts, conferences, trade shows and other various events.
  • Define company brand through events.
  • Ensure staff is adequately prepared for event, including proper uniforms and equipment
  • Coordinates with client to ensure the best way to carry out an event.
  • Prepares all paperwork, uniforms and equipment needed for event is available and the tasks assigned are completed as planned.
  • Is present during the event and handle issues and problems as they arise before, during and after event.
  • Ensure that all timelines /deadlines are met and produce satisfying results for the client.
  • Ensure that the event complies with the local and national safety regulations.
  • Oversee orientation and training programs for new employees
  • Fosters a workplace environment consistent with the values and vision of the company.
  • Meets deadlines, prioritizes company assignments, and maintains professional composure under dynamic conditions.
  • Travels to various job sites to provide supervision and field representation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by corporate officers and regional managers.
  • Obtain and maintain in good standing all required licenses and certification, including without limitation, security, TCM, and NIMS licenses or certifications.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises employees and client events. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Four years of related management experience, and two years of general experience in security, law enforcement or military police and a high school level education; or 2+ years related work experience and a Bachelor or Associate degree; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • General knowledge of computer operation, Microsoft Office Products; Must become proficient in company Workforce Management System.
  • Ability to maintain good client/customer relations and work in a team setting.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, applicants, customers, and organizations.
  • Possess good verbal/written communication skills and people management skills.
  • Ability to work in a high paced, high-pressure environment and make sound decisions.
  • Work necessary hours needed to complete job preparation plus event hours.
  • Complete mandated industry trainings as assigned.
  • General knowledge of computer operation, Microsoft Office Products; Must become proficient in company Workforce Management System.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
