AMVETS National Service Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization that supports American Veterans through a variety of programs. AMVETS National Service Foundation is currently seeking a qualified and motivated team member to supervise the evening staff at our Thrift Store location in Memphis, TN.
A Night Closer is responsible for maintaining guest service as per company standard, generating sales, housekeeping, merchandising, pricing, cash register operations (POS) and loss prevention in adherence to all Company Policy/Store standards. The Night Closer supervises a staff that focuses primarily on maintaining cleanliness and organization on the sales floor, customer service, and the removal of unsold merchandise that has remained on the sales floor after a prescribed time period.
Primary Duties:
- Assist store managers with the scheduling of evening and weekend staff
- Verify cashier drawers are counted accurately and correct at the beginning and end of each shift
- Assist store managers in the training and counseling of evening and weekend staff members
- Ensure the evening and weekend staffs remain on task and fulfill the duties prescribed by assistant or general managers
- Confirm that all merchandise that has remained on the sales floor after a six-week period is removed and deposited into the appropriate areas
- Ensure that each guest/patron receives outstanding guest service from all evening staff employees by providing a guest friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every guest, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of guest service.
- Maintain an awareness of all product knowledge information, merchandise promotions, and advertisement and communicate with the evening staff members.
- Assist in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance and store housekeeping.
- Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise; participate in receiving and monitoring floor stock.
- Adhere to all Company policies, procedures and practices including pricing and loss prevention.
- Maintain a standard of cleanliness and organization in any areas where donations are collected, including clothing drop box areas on premises.
- Ensure evening staff is thanking patrons for supporting American Veterans when receiving donations.
- Ensure evening cashiers are asking store patrons to donate to Veterans programs before the close of each register transaction.
- Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions and maintain proper cash and media accountabilities at POS registers.
- Communicate Guest requests to management.
- Answer store phone line and directing calls to appropriate extensions
- Perform store closing duties including securing store door locks and security system, turning off appropriate equipment and lighting, and padlocking gates or fences on the store premises.
- Any other duties as assigned by management.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to process information/merchandise through computer system and POS register system.
- Ability to communicate with associates and guests.
- Ability to read, count and write to accurately complete all documentation.
- Ability to freely access all areas of the store including selling floor, stock area, and register area.
- Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run evening store operations.
- Ability to frequently move or handle merchandise throughout the store generally weighing 0-50 pounds.
Hours and Compensation
- Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
- Starting pay based on store location and experience
