JOB DESCRIPTION
CUSTODIAN- EVENINGS
QUALIFICATIONS: The applicant must have the following abilities:
- Follow written and verbal directions.
- Relate to fellow employees, the educational and administrative staff, students and the community at large, in a professional and effective manner.
- Follow basic time management procedures.
- Practice good communication in regards to conditions that affect the operation of the facility and the programs within.
REPORTS TO: Director of Buildings and Grounds/Principal
JOB GOAL: To keep our facilities safe, attractive, clean and comfortable. To provide support to the various functions and programs that define our communities' commitment to education.
PERFORMANCE OUTLINE: Subject to change based on the needs of the building.
CLEANING (Daily):
- CLASSROOMS/OFFICES - Remove trash, sweep/dry mop/vacuum all floors in assigned areas. Wet mop/spot clean where necessary.
- BATHROOMS/WATER FOUNTAINS - Remove trash, sweep/dry mop/vacuum all floors in assigned areas. Apply bowl cleaner to urinals and toilets. Disinfect sinks and water fountains, exterior of toilets, stall
dividers and doors. Clean all mirrors. Remove any and all graffiti where found. Wet mop floors with disinfectant. - CORRIDORS - Dry mop floors. Wet mop edges and corners where the auto scrubber can't reach.
- KIVA,THEATRE - Remove trash, dry mop/vacuum, remove graffiti and gum, inspect stage area (trash, clutter...) Note: These areas must be cleaned first on the nights that there is a function taking place there.
- GYMS, LOCKER ROOMS - Remove trash, dry mop and spot clean. Clean behind bleachers if a game has taken place. Locker room procedure same as bathroom including coaches offices.
- MATTING AND ENTRANCES - Vacuum all carpets and mats clean.
- JANITOR CLOSETS - Clean and organize.
CLEANING (Weekly)
- CLASSROOMS - Wet mop floors, clean chalkboard and dry erase board trays, remove graffiti, vacuum baseboards and corners, remove any obvious dust from trim and equipment.
- BATHROOMS - Clean all painted surfaces on the stalls. Clean and polish all chrome surfaces on the toilets.
- CORRIDORS AND LOCKERS - Sweep all baseboards and tops of lockers with vacuum. Remove any graffiti.
- WINDOWS AND GLASS - Thoroughly clean a portion of your section so that in a 1 month period your glass work has been addressed.
- KIVA, THEATRE - Vacuum all baseboards, remove any obvious dust from trim and equipment.
CLEANING (Monthly)
- CLASSROOMS - Thoroughly wet mop entire floor(VCT). Damp dust equipment and trim surfaces and deep clean desk tops. Clean windows.
- CORRIDORS - Damp dust the tops of all lockers.
- RUBBER TILE - Deep scrub with swing buffer.
- MATTING AND ENTRANCES - Clean all mats and carpets with carpet machine.
CLEANING (Vacations)
- CLASSROOMS - Remove furniture and deep scrub floors, apply 1 coat of wax. Carpets to be cleaned with a carpet machine.
- CORRIDORS - Deep scrub with auto scrubber and apply 2 coats of wax.
- CAFETERIA - Same as Corridors.
- WINDOWS AND GLASS - Deep clean high profile areas.
- MATTING AND ENTRANCES - Clean all mats and carpets with carpet machines.
- OFFICES - All carpets to be cleaned with a carpet machine. Designated offices should be Deep scrubbed and coated with 1 coat of wax.
CLEANING (Summer)
- CLASSROOMS - Floors should be stripped and waxed. Spot painting should occur where needed. Chairs and desks should be cleaned. Any remaining damp dusting should take place.
- CORRIDORS - Should be stripped and recoated with 4 coats of wax. Baseboards should be stripped and cleaned. Lockers should be cleaned inside and out.
- WINDOWS AND GLASS - Should be cleaned inside and out.
- CARPETS - Should be cleaned with the carpet machine.
- PAINTING - Areas to be painted will be scheduled for rainy periods.
POLICING OF GROUNDS - As necessary and including small grounds projects. - GYMS Screen, vacuum and apply finish, (optional)
- BATHROOMS AND LOCKER ROOMS - Stalls should be touched up with paint. Bathrooms should be deodorized.
- UNIT VENTILATORS - Vacuum, damp dust and lubricate motor.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Removes snow and ice from sidewalks and driveways and applies ice melt as needed.
- Reports any conditions in need of repair to the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
- Reports any damage to the facility to the Principal/Director of Buildings and Grounds.
- Remains at the facility during school hours and non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his attendance has been authorized by his supervisor(s).
- Responsible for the closing/securing of his/her designated area each night and determining before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured and that all lights, except those left on for security, are turned
off. - Moves furniture and equipment within the facilities as required for various purposes as required by the supervisor.
- Performs such job related duties and tasks that may be required by the supervisor(s).
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Based on a 12 month year. Wages and terms are established by the current UFCW union contract.
