Who We Are:
Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 15,500 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. The District has 1 early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9th - 12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction utilizing sign language support through direct classroom instruction;
- Implement supplementary aids and services including but not limited to: amplification, FM devices, accommodations/modifications and supervision of sign language interpreters;
- Provide differentiated instruction to students with disabilities based on IEP goals and services, literacy and math interventions and professional development strategies;
- Monitor and record student progress towards IEP goals;
- Attend meetings scheduled by the site supervisor and/or Diverse Learners Administrator and all professional development sessions;
- Prepare appropriate lesson plans based on student needs, aligned with IEP goals and services
- Prepare the assigned classroom to encourage engaged cooperative small group learning;
- Develop and follow a daily schedule;
- Communicate with parents/guardians, as needed;
- Provide supervision and guide support to paraprofessional, if applicable.
Qualifications; Type 09, Type 23, Type 03, LBS1. Dependent on assignment, the following endorsement may be required: Reading, Language Arts, and Math.
Salary: Teachers will be paid $35 per hour. Federal and State withholdings will be taken from the amount earned. Absences or tardiness will result in a decreased amount as indicated in this job description.
Additional Information; No more than two days can be missed without jeopardizing dismissal and termination of the contract unless extenuating circumstances prevail. An hourly rate of $35 per hour will be deducted for each hour or partial hour missed. This includes time before and after the start and end of the school day and all professional development sessions. In the event that a minimum class size is not maintained, the teacher is subject to release from their contract. The teacher will be paid for each day of service prior to the day of release.

Student attendance dates: June 5-30, 2023 (no school 6/19/23 in observance of Juneteenth)
PreK-8th Grade Student hours: 830-1230pm Monday Through Thursday
PreK-8th Grade staff hours: 815-1pm Monday Through Thursday
9-12th Grade Student hours: 830-130pm Monday Through Thursday
9-12th Grade staff hours: 815-145pm Monday Through Thursday
