Job Description
We are interviewing for a full-time ESG/GHG Project Manager at our Houston or Denver location. Candidates should have 5-10 years of experience in greenhouse gas and/or ESG consulting, some of which should include involvement in the generation of new business opportunities. This position is anticipated to lead GHG assurance efforts, methane certification efforts, and related GHG and ESG strategy development primarily for traditional energy clients but branching out to a variety of industries. Successful candidates will pair technical savvy related to making oil and gas operations more emissions efficient with expertise in carbon auditing and accounting, familiarity with ESG frameworks, and the ability to think both creatively and in a focused way to successfully manage multiple projects at once.
Position Overview
Spirit’s sustainability team is growing, and we are looking to add a Project Manager to our collaborative and forward-thinking office culture. Our current workload is heavily tilted towards making a significant impact in the traditional energy sector, ranging from exploration and production operators through all aspects of the oil and gas supply chain. As an accredited MIQ auditing firm, Spirit is looking for this position to be capable of leading and supporting gas certification efforts, both gap analyses and certificaiton audits, and to be familiar with the various standards relating to methane intensity and quantification. Additional offerings that would be lead and supported include third party GHG assurance in line with ISO 14064-3 (or equivalent), strategic emissions reduction plans, and complete scope 1-3 build-ups of inventories and internal protocols.
The offerings have expanded outside of oil and gas and are continuing to do so, but regulatory forces including the Colorado Emissions Inventory, SEC Proposed Rulemaking on Carbon Disclosures and Assurance, and the Inflation Reduction Act are driving an unprecedented demand in these sectors that Spirit is well-positioned to take advantage of. At the same time, methane intensity protocols and standards are evolving rapidly, with frameworks such as GTI Veritas and OGMP 2.0 providing more definition and certification efforts like MIQ and Trustwell competing with blockchain certifications and market-based differentiated gas criteria established by traders. Our goal as a company is to provide comprehensive methane (and broader GHG) reduction support for clients in each supply chain segment for operators from strategic planning through project implementation and annual reporting/assurance.
While the position is not sales-oriented, successful candidates will posses the ability to leverage professional networks, build on successful projects to sell additional work for the sustainability program as well as other Spirit programs, and be comfortable performing limited business development activities such as presenting at conferences and attending professional networking events. As a growing service area, the ideal candidate should be growth-minded and be willing to work towards leading assurance and auditing services in conjunction with other team members to be an independent service line. Spirit is committed to supporting the right candidate with the resources needed to be successful, and has a strong position and associated client base in the industry to build upon.
Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting/managing a variety of our ongoing ESG/GHG projects, as related to their past experience, including but not limited to the following:

In addition, the selected Project Manager will be expected to assist in successfully winning, managing, and delivering projects within their core area(s) of expertise. This aspect of the position will be strongly supported by Spirit and provide opportunities for professional growth and leadership.
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Facilitation of stakeholder groups to gather specific input related to sustainability strategies and outcomes;
