Equity Product Strategy Senior Specialist

Vanguard's Portfolio Review Department (PRD) is hiring an Equity Product Strategy Senior Specialist. This is a great opportunity for someone excited about providing world-class mutual funds and ETFs that help clients achieve their investment goals and meet client's evolving needs. You will work across partner functions to conduct product research into new and existing products across our index equity, active equity, and private equity offers.
In this role, you will:

• Lead project teams comprised of Vanguard's subject matter experts to help solve complex investment and product problems and deliver recommendations to our Global Investment Committee.
• Leverage your deep investment acumen to conduct deep dive research on launching new products or making changes to our existing products.
• Create and deliver memos and materials in a timely and well executed fashion.
• Demonstrate your skills as an excellent written and verbal communicator.
• Persuade and influence leaders across the enterprise.
• Evaluate the competitive landscape to stay abreast of trends that could inform future product developmen t.
• Provide leadership around the development, improvement, and maintenance of a clear Equity Product Strategy.
• Drives research excellence by proactively seeking ways to improve research processes, stakeholder engagements, and overall product planning.
• Demonstrate informal leadership of peers and junior crew across the category.

Core Responsibilities:

• Manages various projects related to fund initiatives to strengthen Vanguard's product offer. Conducts deep analysis of strategic, competitive, client and market issues related to Vanguard's product line-up. Gathers qualitative and quantitative data from internal and external sources to make data-based recommendations about new products, changes to existing products, or input into strategic projects.
• Partners with senior leaders, key stakeholders, and subject matter experts to evaluate existing and new products. Recommends additions and changes to Vanguard's product line-up. Offers guidance and advice related to Vanguard's investment philosophy, product development process, and internal governance framework.
• Analyzes data of high complexity using investment and business knowledge to derive product development and product insights. Verifies the quality, accuracy, and reasonableness of the data. Engages directly with clients and prospects to gain additional insights and perspective.
• Responds to fund and market questions submitted through the PRD Database. Creates presentations summarizing analyses, findings, and recommendations for new and existing products for discussion at internal forums.
• Conducts product based competitor research, analysis and monitoring to better understand our competitors' product offerings to drive positioning of Vanguard's products. Develops and maintains broad and deep knowledge of the asset management industry, market and product, and competitive dynamics. Leverages knowledge to derive and communicate product-related insights at internal forums.
• Provides thought leadership through identifying strategic topics and presents compelling ideas for research evaluation.
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

What it takes:

• Eight years related work experience, including five years experience in product management and investment analysis/strategy.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
• CFA preferred.
