Job description

The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) was established in 1927. Housed within the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency (LWDA), the Department is dedicated to improving working conditions for California's 18million wage earners and advancing opportunities for profitable employment in California. The Department administers and enforces laws governing wages, hours worked, retaliation, workplace safety and health, apprenticeship training programs, medical care, and other benefits for injured workers.
Under general direction from the Area Administrator, the Equity and Inclusion Apprenticeship Consultant is responsible for providing technical assistance, guidance and support to constrution apprenticeship and public works stakeholders, while serving as an Equity and Inclusion information provider for workers, employers, and the general public. Facilitates and supports the community of DAS grantees of the funding sources that promote strategies of increasing participation of under-represented populations in apprenticeship and supports in communication and evaluation surrounding related funding.

Working Conditions
This position is located at: 320 W. Fourth Street, Room 950, Los Angeles, CA 90013.
The incumbent works 40 hours per week in an office setting that is an air conditioned, multiple floor building with elevator access, and contains cubicles with natural and artificial lighting. May be required to work from other locations throughout California as needed including working from home if provided with proper office equipment. Typical office tools include computer, printer/copy/scan/fax machines, stapler, hole punch, filing; being in a stationary position for long periods of time and/or driving; typical office/vehicle noise and/or vibration; special hazards or dangers; may encounter inclement weather.
