Equipment Yard Technician

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Equipment Yard Laborer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in equipment maintenance and repair, with a strong emphasis on safety and efficiency. This role involves a variety of tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our yard equipment, including basic welding, mechanical repairs, and maintenance tasks.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform basic welding tasks for the repair and maintenance of light yard equipment.
• Utilize basic mechanical skills for routine tasks such as changing tires and tightening bolts on equipment
• Conduct regular inspections of returning equipment to identify and report maintenance requirements
• Proactively identify potential equipment maintenance needs to prevent downtime
• Undertake general equipment maintenance tasks to ensure all machinery is in good working condition.
• Apply general auto maintenance and repair skills as needed within the yard environment
• Safely tow trailers and handle equipment requiring towing, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations

Knowledge and Skills

• Previous experience with basic welding techniques, particularly in the context of equipment repair.
• Proficient in basic mechanical tasks and familiar with common tools and procedures for equipment maintenance
• Ability to recognize and report equipment maintenance issues promptly and accurately
• Experience with general equipment and auto maintenance, with a focus on practical, hands-on skills
• Knowledge of and experience with towing trailers, including an understanding of the safety considerations involved
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to identify and clearly report maintenance needs.

Work Environment

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently inspects the project and may be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions, while wearing personal protective equipment.
• The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud.
• This position is performed in outside weather conditions.

Physical Requirement

• Ability to pass Department of Transportation physical exam
• While performing the duties of this job, the position is very active and the employee is frequently standing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching throughout day.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
• Operate hand tools.

Travel Requirement

• Valid Motor Vehicle Record with no restrictions or suspensions.
• Ability to drive a motorized vehicle.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
