About Golf & Equipment Shop:
Greystone Golf and Country Club has two, 36-hole golf course consisting of the Bob Cupp designed Founders Course (1991) and the Rees Jones designed Legacy Course (1999). The Founders Course is home to the PGA Tour Champions Region’s Tradition, a senior major tournament hosted in May of each year. The golf courses are a couple miles apart and each have their own clubhouse, maintenance and equipment facility. The equipment fleet includes a blend of a 5-year lease package for high frequency use pieces and a 10-year purchase program on more specialized, lower frequency use items like tractors and implements. The equipment shop located at the Founders course has an Express Dual 5000DX Reel Grinder, an Express Dual Anglemaster 4000 Bedknife Grinder, an Express Dual Rapid Relief 1000 Blade Thinner, and a Foley 460 Rotary Grinder.
Position Summary:
The Equipment Manager will have responsibility for all equipment and equipment shops for both courses. This is a hands-on leadership position with the responsibility to lead, manage, oversee, train, coach, counsel and assist the maintenance team on the repair and maintenance of turf equipment and vehicle fleets, parts fabrication and parts and equipment inventory.
Essential Job Functions:
· Be an integral and positive team member, working with the Director of Course Operations, Course Superintendents, and their teams to provide premium turf conditions.
· Establish and maintain the shops and facilities in a safe, clean and organized manner.
· Develop, manage and assist in the preventive maintenance program of equipment, including accurate record keeping.
· Lead, manage, oversee, train, coach, counsel and assist the maintenance team. Train including, on proper use of equipment, cleaning of equipment, and safety protocols.
· Effectively maintain, diagnose and repair all equipment in the fleet, including parts fabrication.
· Perform, assist or oversee parts fabrication, including any cutting, folding, casting, forging, machining, shearing, punching, stamping or welding.
· Educate and ensure all health, safety and environmental regulations are known, understood and practiced, including proper disposal of waste oils, tires, etc.
· Prepare, recommend and manage the equipment budget, monitor cost and expenditures and identifying variances and recommending and implementing corrective action as necessary.
· Conduct daily monitoring of mowers to ensure high quality of cut.
· Maintain comprehensive and adequate inventory of all tools, small equipment, large equipment, vehicles and wearable items.
· Manage fuel inventories using the Club’s SMARTank monitoring system.
· Assists in the evaluation, selection and purchasing/leasing new equipment.
· Build positive and effective relationships with equipment and grounds staff, senior leadership, local vendors, and other local technicians.
· Ensure accordance of all safety and environmental regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
· Able to lead, manage, oversee, train, coach, counsel and assist the maintenance team
· Positive team member and able to integrate effectively with the maintenance and grounds team to produce championship golf conditions and how to maintain quality cuts with all types of mowers.
· Experience as a mechanic and capable of maintaining, diagnosing and repairing all types of turf equipment, including gas and diesel engines and hydraulic and electrical systems.
· A basic understanding of the game of golf and the effects turf equipment has on the overall condition and play-ability of the game.
· Ability to fabricate parts, including cutting, folding, casting, forging, machining, shearing, punching, stamping or welding.
· Ability to utilize computer software systems such as Excel, Word, PM System, knowledge of myTurf is a plus.
· Understand newer technologies like GPS and computer systems.
· Trade school or formal education or certifications in mechanical, electrical, related programs or equivalent experience.
· A GCSAA Certificate Program of Completion is a plus.
