POSITION DESCRIPTION

Title: Equipment Inspector

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Summary: This position is Wednesday - Saturday 6:00pm - 6:00am. You will inspect inbound trucks and trailers. You will be identifying defects, coordinating repairs, completing minor repairs, entering data for completed repairs, and communicating with key personnel and vendors on the status of repairs.

Major Duties:

· Inspects all PTL trucks and trailers identifying defects to prevent OTR breakdowns

· Complete minor work on PTL trucks and trailers as needed. To include but not limited to: mudflap replacement, light replacement, interior detail, glad hand seal replacement, greasing components, checking and adjusting fluids, checking and adjusting tire inflation.

· Responsible for communication with operations, customer service, and driver about status of the equipment in maintenance control

· Responsible for parts ordering, inventory accuracy, and accurate costing of parts to work orders

· Responsible for accurate computer entry of work orders and VMRS on found defects

· Responsible to maintain accurate reporting on inbound and outbound equipment

· Responsible to oversee lot security by controlling inbound and outbound traffic on PTL yard

· Any other duties that may be requested by Maintenance Supervisor

Job Requirements:

Education: HS Diploma/ GED, and vocational training preferred.

Certifications: Must hold a Regular Operator (Class D) driving license

Experience: 1-2 years

Type of Experience: Semi Tractors and Semi-Trailers, equipment.

Computer: Proficient at data entry(50 WPM). Familiar working with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Special Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.) Applicant must be willing to work with a computerized maintenance reporting system. Physical: Some lifting involved, including tires and other heavy objects.

Environmental: Warehouse, and/ or maintenance garage, indoor & outdoor environments
