Environmental Specialist
Job Summary
The Environmental and Cultural Resources Team is looking for an Environmental Specialist to assist with permitting projects with federal and state agencies. The applicant must have strong writing skills and should be familiar with the National Environmental Projection Act requirements for different project types. This is an entry-level position for those interested in a fast-paced environmental consulting career.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Coordinate with the team and federal and state agencies on permitting requirements
- Writing and preparation of NEPA documents
- Field surveys as needed
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree or higher in one of the following fields (or related field): environmental resource management; ecology; geology; biology; forestry; sustainability; natural resource management; planning; archeology; history
- 6 months of experience with federal or state permitting for environmental resources required
- Valid US Driver's license, clean driving record
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
- Ability to be in the field/travel
- Preference will be given to those currently living in or willing to relocate to one of the VPS offices (Rapid City, SD; Brookings, SD; Mitchell, SD; Sioux Falls, SD; St. Cloud, MN; Cedar Falls, IA; Springfield, IL)
