Job Description• Fully qualified scientist. Utilizes scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
• Requires general familiarity within a broad field of scientific knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines/fields.
• Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
• Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.
• Solves problems by use of combinations of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
• Participates in planning required to achieve prescribed objectives.
• Conducts analysis and investigation work obtained from a variety of sources.
• Performs inspections and tests to ensure compliance.
• Participates in developing corrective measures and procedures. Formulates hypothesis, performs research and makes recommendation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Environmental Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong technical report writing skills and the ability to develop design specifications.
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER and current 8-hour annual refresher certification.
- Ability to assist with the preparation of cost estimates for various remediation plans and remediation activities.
- Experience with response and environmental investigations and through site clean-up and closure.
- Candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors.
- Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects.
- Positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative. Field work may be required including oversight of subcontractors.
- CAD experience a plus.
- Candidate must be proficient with basic computer programs; Microsoft Suite Programs.
Additional Information
Offered rate of compensation in Anchorage, AK will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The hourly rate range for this position is $30/hr to $45/hr.
