Environmental Protection Specialist

This is an office-centered position*--you must physically report to one of the duty stations stated in this announcement on a regular basis (location TBD after candidate selected).

Qualifications:

We are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:

To qualify for the GS-14 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-13 level defined as assisting with developing and implementing strategies to achieve national and regional objectives. Represents the Agency by overseeing and managing major initiatives including joint projects, policy development, and/or programmatic and initiatives to stakeholders with a focus on disadvantaged and overburdened communities. 

Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 

1. Knowledge of federal and state legislation, regulations, policies and guidance dealing with EPA funding programs.
2. Ability to analyze and communicate complex programmatic/policy matters.
3. Skill in oral communication.
4. Ability to work with other federal, state, tribal and local agencies, community groups, the regulated community and other external customers in an independent and highly effective manner.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
