Environmental Project Engineer Or Scientist

What we are looking for
SCS Engineers is looking for a mid-level Project Engineer or Scientist to work in the St. Louis regional office (currently located in Fairview Heights, Illinois). You will be expected prepare deliverables for all phases of environmental due diligence (site investigations through final draft reports), including Phase I, II and III environmental site assessments, as well as perform asbestos and lead based paint inspections, draft stormwater management plans/spill prevention, control and countermeasure plans, and participate in Brownfields/Voluntary Cleanup Program projects. You will report to the regional Project Director and will serve as a delegated Project Lead on one or more environmental services projects throughout Missouri and Southern Illinois. Moderate - high percentage of time spent in-field will be required.
How you can make an impact

• Coordinate and manage field work for multiple projects.
• Lead, mentor, and possibly manage junior level staff.
• Delegate portions of project deliverables to junior staff for completion.
• Record data during field work, which could include, but is not limited to: soil characteristics, lithology, groundwater or surface water data, photographs, or summaries of visual observations through photograph and written field logs in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Evaluate and interpret data recorded during field work for reporting purposes and to determine future project needs with or without guidance from the Project Manager.
• Communicate with clients for field work coordination, project updates, reporting, design document status, permitting status, and meetings.
• Prepare budgets and schedules for client projects and manage associated budgets, invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable and scheduling.
• Write and prepare proposals and reports such as Phase I / Phase II ESAs, Soil Management Plan, Dust Control Plan, NEPA EA, or emission, groundwater, and compliance reporting.
• Complete quality control reviews on all work products (reports, data, HASP, etc.) prior to submission.
• Review technical documents to ensure completeness and conformance to requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or science required.
• Environmental Science, Engineering or Geology master's degree preferred.
• HAZWOPER certification required.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience (environmental due diligence and/or remedial action projects) required.
• National Environmental Policy Act and business development background a plus.
• A Valid Driver's License with a driving record in good standing required.
