Position Summary:
Midnight Sun Global Services is seeking an Environmental Manager in support of a Federal contract in Portland, OR. The Environmental Manager is responsible for implementing and maintaining an environmental and quality control program to ensure that all work is performed in accordance with project plans and specifications, as well as compliance with all standards and regulations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs daily inspections and/or direct inspectors to provide daily inspections ensuring compliance with delivery order requirements.
- Attends Pre-Construction meetings with subcontractors to promote understanding of Environmental Plans , applicable specification sections, and expected quality level.
- Maintains on-site records of:
- SWIPP maintenance and installation , activities, tests, and inspections performed by subcontractors.
- Maintaining accurate as-builts of SWIPP plans.
- Coordinates third party testing agents as outlined in the project requirements, SWIPP plans and the QCP.
- Exercises stop work authority as needed.
- Monitors all job site operations for compliance with contract requirements in relation to SWIPP, noise and dust control, non-interruption of client activities, and utility shutdown procedures.
- Prepares and submits accurate, detailed, daily reports for the project.
- Prepares environmental plans for review and visits site at least once per day.
- Reports the type and estimated usage of all Hazardous Materials in compliance with Environmental Compliance and Pollution Prevention and submits a copy of the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for each item to the client.
- Provides environmental notices to the client including but not limited to SWIPP plans, hazardous material storage location reporting, historical and archeological finds.
- Ensures compliance with Company Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) guidelines and procedures along with all local requirements (OSHA, USACE EM385.1.1, etc.).
- Must have an Uncompromising Commitment to Safety.
- Assists with other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Education/Experience
- 6+ years' experience in the construction industry with a commercial and/or industrial general contractor, with a minimum of 2 years combined experience in an environmental and quality control responsible role.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field highly desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of building codes and general engineering principles.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, to include clear, concise, and professional presentation of information.
- Must demonstrate a strong ability to:
- Adapt and be flexible to frequent changes in a fast-paced work environment.
- Collaborate and work effectively in a team environment with people of various backgrounds and styles.
- Adapt to the constantly evolving world of technology, design, means and methods, systems may include but not limited to: Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
Certifications/Licenses
- Previous formal safety and quality control training certifications highly desired.
- Current state issued driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- CPR/First Aid certification required within 45 days of hire date.
- Must meet the requirements for EM 385-1-1 and ensure compliance with national consensus safety standards to include but not limited to: CFR 1910, CFR 1926, OSHA, EM 385-1-1.
- OSHA 30 hour construction safety class, or ability to obtain within 45 days of hire.
Work Environment:
- Performance of the required job duties will be in a construction environment, which may include various weather conditions.
- Responsible for driving between project sites that are often miles apart or miles from the assigned office location.

- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
