Job Description
Position Summary
The EHS Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the Safety of all team members at Applied Plant
Science. Their ability to build rapport and create mutual beneficial relationships between
themselves and Applied Plant Science makes them valuable members of the team. This position
does not require independent decision making. Issues arising with state and federal agencies must
be escalated to the Director of Environmental Health & Safety, the Maintenance Manager or Plant
Manager in that order.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Participates in the development and implementation of safety programs such as
lockout/tagout, safety SOP’s, confined space entry and other OSHA safety compliance
programs.
Conducts routine and follow-up Environmental Health, safety, and hazard inspections.
Responds to emergency situations involving hazardous materials, fire and smoke incidents,
or unknown hazards; prepares reports of findings and submits recommendations.
Participates in the analysis of accident and incident reports for trends; makes
recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and actions.
Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards.
Inspects safety equipment; recommends replacements.
Participates in Environmental sampling as needed or directed.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Minimum
o Knowledge of State/Federal OSHA, WA Department of Ecology, Stormwater
Management, and policy management.
o Competent with Microsoft applications – Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power point
o Excellent written, organizational, and verbal communication skills in English
o Ability to adapt and quickly build rapport with team members and leadership.
o 2(+) years safety experience
o Must be proficient with a Smartphone.
o High school diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred
o Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Related field or at least 3 years of experience directly
related to the job duties and responsibilities specified.
o Professional Credential: GSP, OHST or equivalent
