Job Description
The Green Bay, Wisconsin office of GEI is seeking an Environmental Engineer, Geologist or Hydrogeologist to perform a broad range of duties to support our environmental and engineering business lines. Under supervision of senior staff, this individual will provide support to ongoing office and field work. Office tasks may include reviewing and interpreting data and preparing technical reports, permits, contingency plans, and work plans; preparing remedial cost estimates; developing and implementing remedial strategies; assisting with business development and preparing proposals; and interacting with client, subcontractor, and regulatory agency project contacts. Field activities may include commercial and industrial site reconnaissance; installing soil borings, groundwater monitoring wells, and soil vapor probes; collecting samples of various environmental media; testing to evaluate groundwater aquifer characteristics; and documenting remedial actions.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Support the completion of Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments; Site Investigation Work Plans; Site Investigation Reports; Remedial Action Options Reports; Remedial Action Documentation Reports; and Case Closure Requests.
- Support the completion of Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans; Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plans; Pollution Incident Prevention Plans; and Monitoring Implementation Plans.
- Support the completion of various environmental and engineering permits and regulatory compliance reporting, including air permits, storm water and wastewater permits, air emissions inventories, hazardous material inventories, and toxic release inventories.
- Complete a wide range of field tasks, including sampling of groundwater, soil, soil vapor, storm water, wastewater, and other media; documenting soil and groundwater remediation and soil vapor mitigation; and supervising subcontractors.
- Complete a wide range of office tasks, including reviewing environmental regulations and guidance documents; reviewing requests for proposals and professional qualifications; tabulating and interpreting environmental and engineering data; preparing cost estimates, proposals, and technical memorandums; and communicating with project managers and support team on project progress.
- Support various program initiatives and project needs by collaborating with team leads locally and nationally.
- Support the completion of presentations and proposals for clients and regulators.
- Support various environmental and engineering projects by travelling to project sites, including some overnight and extended assignments at regional and national locations.
Minimum Qualifications
- 0-5 years of experience
- BS or MS in Environmental Engineering, Hydrogeology or similar related field.
- E.I.T. is desirable; P.E., P.G., or ability to obtain such credential is a plus.
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER is a plus.
- Excellent computer skills with MS Office, MS Project, PowerPoint, and other computer applications, GIS and AutoCAD experience are a plus.
- Strong communication, writing, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and with project teams.
- Self-motivated with good problem-solving skills and willing to respond to instruction.
- Ability and willingness to travel for short-term and long-term field assignments as needed.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
