POSITION: ENVIRONMENTAL ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
DEPARTMENT: ENVIRONMENTAL ENFORCEMENT
Responsibilities:
The Environmental Enforcement Officer performs routine and complex public safety work in the enforcement of litter control ordinances and any other related county ordinances. The Environmental Enforcement Officer will work closely with the code Enforcement Officers, conduct traffic stops, respond to littering type call, and respond to and enforce any other applicable state law and county ordinances.
Competencies for Successful Performance of Job Duties:
Knowledge of law enforcement principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment.
Skill in operating the tools and equipment listed; Patrol vehicle, animal capture equipment, police radio, side handle baton, handcuffs, pager, first aid equipment, personal computer
Ability to learn the applicable laws, ordinances, and department rules and regulations; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers, supervisors, and the public; ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; ability to meet the special requirements listed below; Ability to learn the County’s geography.
