TIS Environmental, Inc. (TIS), a successful, 25-year environmental consulting and contracting services provider, is growing and we are seeking an Environmental Consultant (Engineer, Geologist, Scientist) to provide environmental program compliance, site remediation, and construction management services for its growing client base. TIS's strategic clients operate in the rail transportation, manufacturing, and midstream oil and gas sectors, therefore experience in one or more of these areas would be ideal in a candidate.
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated problem solver with high attention to detail and must be capable of working with minimal direction to perform project management duties, create technically accurate reports, and consistently exceed client expectations for safety and quality management. This is a full-time position and will be based out of our Kansas City Office located in Lenexa, Kansas.
Environmental Consultant Job Duties
The selected candidate will support a broad base of Environmental Programs including:
- Stormwater Programs – stormwater permitting & prepare Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SW3Ps)
- Spill Prevention Programs - Prepare SPCC & Facility Response Plans
- Wastewater Programs – prepare and maintain NPDES permits, oversee sampling & analyses working with outside labs
- EPCRA Tier II Chemical inventory reporting
- ISO 14001/18001 / 45000 Environmental & Safety Management Systems (EMS)
- Auditing/Assessments of client sites for environmental compliance
- Solid & hazardous sampling, waste profiling, and waste management
- Provide general environmental and regulatory compliance support to TIS clients
Skills/Experience Qualified candidates will possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil or environmental), geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or other related disciplines. Master’s degree preferred, but not absolutely required
- Professional registration (P.E., P.G., CH.G.) highly desired. Ability to apply for reciprocity across multiple states is strongly preferred.
- 5-10 years minimum of relevant environmental consulting experience including SW3P, NPDES permitting/plan preparation experience
- Familiarity with USEPA and state environmental regulations and understanding of environmental permit application processes.
- Strong organizational and communication skills and attention to technical details
- Proposal preparation and detailed project technical reports/deliverables experience
- Computer skills – Strong computer literacy skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe PDF. AutoCAD experience strongly preferred
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and refresher updates, and a strong commitment to safety.
- Understanding and experience with Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and ISO 14001 requirements a plus
This position may be filled as salaried or hourly. Must be willing to travel as needed to support clients, projects, training, and project team collaboration.
