Audit personnel access into radiologically controlled areas and follow-up on contamination incidents involving personnel and/or facilities. " Assist in job preplanning. " Recommend appropriate protective clothing and respiratory protection equipment based on pre-work radiation monitoring. " Monitor jobs in progress and facility conditions to confirm that protective clothing and equipment requirements are met. " Determine and update area radiation exposure rates, contamination levels, and airborne radioactivity levels and post area with appropriate signs and barricades. " Establish appropriate control measures in routine, special and emergency situations. " Analyze and log sample results. " Prepare air, water, soil, and surface smear samples and count activity in accordance with established procedures. " Calculate airborne concentrations and environmental releases. " Interpret monitoring data and calculate exposure rates, dose, airborne concentrations and environmental releases. " Issue the appropriate monitoring dosimeters in accordance with established procedures. " Perform source and integrity checks of monitoring equipment to verify proper operation. " Perform integrity/leak checks of radioactive sources. " Document all survey activities. " Wear personal protective equipment/clothing, which may include lab coats, coveralls, cloth hoods, shoe covers, gloves, hard hats, safety glasses, safety shoes, harnesses, snake boots, and respiratory protection equipment (e.g., full-face respirators, SCBAs, fresh air hoods, and plastic suits). " Provide technical guidance and assist in training less experienced personnel in home department and other departments. " Perform IH survey functions as designated by supervision " Work any shift assignment. " Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
