Total Wine & More is looking for an Accounts Payable/Receivable Accountant to join the Accounting/Finance Department and work onsite in Bethesda, Maryland. You will perform month-end and year-end general ledger close tasks and support the general accounting, the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven individual to further develop their skills in accounting and directly impact our business through their valuable contributions. Internally, your title will be Staff Accountant. You will to the Sr. Manager, Merchandise Accounting.
You will:
- Perform month-end and year-end general ledger close tasks including preparing journal entries, performing general ledger account reconciliations, executing closing process steps and assisting in year-end financial statement audits.
- Support the accounts payable function by processing and maintaining third-party vendor records and compiling and issuing vendor payment reports.
- Support the accounts receivable function by processing and applying vendor refunds and credits.
- Manage IT tickets and address misreported inventory and related inventory issues as identified by Store Managers and assist with correcting and providing updates to them via our IT portal
- Record store payments issued against vendor invoices on weekly basis and correct any misreported payments.
You will come with:
- Bachelor’s degree in Math, Economics, Accounting or Finance is ideal. (We are open to Spring 2024 graduates).
- 6+ months of experience in accounting or finance is ideal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, v-lookups).
- Understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting preferred.
- Experience with Lawson accounting system preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical/problem solving skills.
