Description:

The Attorney General is the chief legal officer of the State of Maryland. The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has the general charge, supervision, and direction of the State's legal business, acting as legal advisors and representatives of the major agencies, various boards, commissions, officials, and institutions of State Government. The OAG also protects the public by civil enforcement of antitrust, civil rights, consumer protection, and securities laws and regulations and by the prosecution of organized crime, Medicaid fraud, environmental crimes, insurance fraud, state tax evasion, and other statutorily assigned matters. As Maryland's 47th Attorney General, Anthony G. Brown leads the Office with a critical focus on equity, justice, and fairness.
The OAG is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Attorney General to provide counsel and advice to the Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA), a modal administration of the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT). Responsibilities may include, but not limited to, providing legal advice and support to MAA on a wide variety of subjects including, transactional matters, business agreements, commercial agreements, contractual matters, procurement, public finance, construction contracts, Public Ethics Law, Open Meetings Act, Public Information Act, environmental compliance and mitigation, proposed legislation and regulations, real estate, and other transportation issues. The position may include some representation in State and federal courts and in administrative proceedings in employment, personnel, contracts, procurement, and other litigation. The position is located inside the BWI Thurgood Marshall Terminal and free parking is available.
Experience: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of legal experience, with excellent writing and communication skills. Experience in any of the following areas is a plus: transactional, commercial contracts, Public Ethics Law; Public Information Act; transportation; public finance/bonds; environmental law; procurement; complex commercial negotiations; eminent domain; real estate; employment, personnel, and other civil litigation. Maryland Bar, or the ability to immediately waive in, is required.
