- The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization, Maritime & Weapons Systems Division is seeking a Entry-Level Firmware Engineer (Level 1) to join our Digital Hardware team in Germantown, MD. We create the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit.Our DRT team designs, manufactures, and markets DSP-based Software-Defined Radios (SDR) globally. Specific areas of expertise include DSP-based receiver design, communication systems theory, cellular / PCS / wireless communications, software, electronic packaging, digital and RF hardware design.
Position Overview:
The Entry-Level Firmware Engineer will be a part of a high-performing Digital Hardware team. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to see how Open VPX systems are designed. This role will include work on VITA 46.11 compliant systems.
Position Responsibilities:
Debug code from other engineers.
Understand how to make best use of the standards when integrating against hardware.
Present solutions on how to interact with compliant systems at various levels of software and what info might be customer applicable.
Develop or modify basic hardware and software designs based on defined requirements.
Perform system tests to verify operational and functional requirements.
Assist in monitoring suppliers' performance to ensure compliance with requirements.
Support resolution of product integration issues and production anomalies.
Research basic technologies for potential application to company business needs.
Work Authorization:
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
1 or more years experience with implementing tests against VITA 46.11.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Familiarity with VITA 46.11-2022 or IPMI 2.0 or SOSA Rev 2 snapshot 1.
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Relocation:

Typical summary pay range (Level 1): $70,550 – $95,450
