Job description

Our Walnut Creek office has an opening for a self-motivated entry-level engineer with 0 to 5 years of experience to work on projects related to water, wastewater water reuse, infrastructure, biogas, and biosolids. Detailed Description:

  • Work closely with project managers, project engineers, and other team members to execute planning, design, and engineering services project work involving wastewater and water treatment, stormwater, infrastructure, and water reuse.
  • Conduct technical evaluations to support planning and design-related activities.
  • Perform engineering work on a variety of environmental engineering projects.
  • Perform calculations and prepare technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and miscellaneous contract documents.
  • Conduct field work as necessary for various projects.
  • Communicate and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (drafters, designers, and other engineers).
  • Successfully manage and deliver assignments on time and on budget.
  • Adhere to Brown and Caldwell’s QA/QC process.

Desired Skills and Experience: 

  • Self-starter, results-oriented, and ability to work under deadlines.
  • Candidate should be able to anticipate project needs and identify work assignments independently.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize is required.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment is required.
  • Ability to work under multiple deadline pressures is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related engineering field required.
  • Master’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering preferred.
  • Desire to work on a variety of projects related to water and wastewater system master planning, modeling, and design.
  • EIT preferred.
  • Plan to obtain California PE.
  • Good technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and on large coordinated teams.
  • Ability and willingness to perform field work at various sites as needed.
  • Knowledge of standard software including MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and Outlook.
  • Previous exposure to Revu Bluebeam preferred.
  • Strong aptitude for researching and solving technical problems.

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.  These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location C: 

Salary $68,000 – $92,000
