Enterprise Systems Engineer/Architect

Our client, a New York based hospital, is searching for an Enterprise Systems Engineer/Architect. This is a contract role where employees must be onsite 3 days per week. Please see below for the full job description:

Job Location: NYC 3-days onsite & 2 days remote. (Wednesdays are their staple day where everyone is required to be onsite)

Job type: 1+ year renewable contract, possible conversion to FTE

About the role:

Under general direction of the Director, IT Infrastructure Systems and Storage or equivalent, the Sr. Systems Architect oversees the configuration, installation, testing, and troubleshooting of physical and virtual servers, relevant appliances, operating systems, and relevant applications and tools. Performs system configuration and utilization management of relevant systems. Performs research and assessment of existing and emerging technologies and solutions. Provides expert opinion on implementing new technologies. Provides advice and guidance on the architectures and utilization of cloud-based technologies. Assists in planning and implementations of appropriate systems to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution

• Able to optimize and improve existing processes, systems and platforms of substantial technical complexity.
• Serves as subject matter expert for specific technologies and processes.
• Defines requirements for hardware and software upgrades of infrastructure components.
• Provides direction, training and guidance for systems stakeholder and users.
• Designs and implements global infrastructure services.
• Participates in planning sessions to capture future system architecture design.
• Works cross-functionally to create and document requirements, develop and deliver solutions.
• Provides system and public cloud expertise across the organization for addressing operational issues as well as supporting engineering activities.
• Designs, develops and implements system applications and infrastructure services including hardware integration and configuration and software development.
• Modifies and maintains existing operating systems applications and infrastructure.
• Defines requirements for software upgrades on platform system components.
• Identifies deficiencies in current system designs and recommends solutions. Identifies system scaling limitations and recommends and implements improvements.
• Collaborates with other Business Units in assessing, evaluating and implementing relevant technologies, applications, and capabilities as per agreed upon business requirements
• Able to create, update, and maintain visual diagrams as well as creating complex technical documentation describing systems and/or application connectivity, physical and logical information flow and other relevant details

Education

• Master of Science in Computer Science or Math preferred
• Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, Applied Science or Math combined with relevant work experience.
• Bachelor in other areas combined with relevant work experience will be considered

Certification/Licensure Requirements

• Microsoft Certified Professional is preferred. Additional certificates in data security, networking or specific technologies (Vmware, Azure, AWS, Citrix, Networking, Exchange, etc..) will be considered.

Minimum Years of Experience/Type of Experience

• 8-10 years working in Enterprise setting maintaining and supporting physical, virtual, on-prem and cloud-based systems, applications, and tools. Some experience in medical/hospital environment is preferred, but not required.

Additional Requirements/ Skills Required

·         Expert knowledge of physical and virtual systems, Microsoft Windows Server OS, Active Directory, Exchange, Vmware, Citrix (entire technology suite), NetScaler, Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, Symantec VIP.

·         PowerShell or Python scripting skills preferred, but not required.

·         Advanced knowledge of networking protocols, system and application security. 

·         Solid knowledge of MS Office Suite as well as MS Visio and Project tools. 

·         Knowledge of Linux and/or UNIX is a plus.
