What You'll Do
As a lead member of the Principal Enterprise Architecture team, the Enterprise Cloud Security Architect will be responsible for providing Cloud Security domain expertise for Enterprise Cloud and hybrid-cloud platform planning and development to protect Principal and its employees, partners, and customers from damaging acts and advance our digital transformation strategies across the organization. The Enterprise Cloud Security Architect will actively collaborate with Principal's business and technology leaders, including enterprise technology platform owners, to formulate secure Enterprise Cloud and hybrid-cloud architecture strategies to achieve our company's business objectives and priorities.
In addition, you will be a beacon for information security & risk standard methodologies, education, sophisticated topics' research, and mentorship across the company. This is a hands-on (individual contributor) position with responsibility for providing Cloud Security subject matter expertise for Enterprise Cloud and hybrid-cloud platform planning and development.
Here are a few examples of the kinds of things you'll do:
  • Establish, maintain, and advocate Enterprise Cloud Security standards, guidelines, principles, patterns, requirements, and standard methodologies for Enterprise Cloud and hybrid-cloud platforms and environments based on business requirements. Ensure enterprise architectures align with overall Enterprise Cloud Security goals and guidance.
  • Effectively communicate, influence, and facilitate consensus with business and technology partners for Enterprise Cloud Security standards, guidance, and best practices.
  • Provide Enterprise Cloud Security subject matter expertise to Enterprise Cloud architecture planning and development efforts.
  • Assess Enterprise Cloud efforts and initiatives for alignment with Enterprise Cloud Security Architecture guidance, identifying relevant security-related risks, impacts, and mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate strategic Cloud Security discussions and set medium- to long-term strategic direction (1-3 years)
  • Identify, research, recommend and drive adoption of emerging and innovative Cloud Security technologies and architectures that enable the business to achieve strategic enterprise goals and respond to future market changes.

Who You Are
  • You have a Bachelor's degree OR equivalent work experience and 8+ years of experience with a multi-business unit global organization
  • Direct, hands-on experience planning, architecting, and implementing secure Enterprise Cloud and hybrid-cloud solutions with multiple cloud service platforms (Microsoft, AWS, Google, SalesForce, etc.)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience developing Enterprise Cloud and hybrid-Cloud Security Architectures, standards, guidelines, design principles, patterns, requirements, roadmaps, and standard methodologies
  • Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) methodology
  • Proven teamwork skills, including partner engagement
  • Experience working with, and presenting to, executive management
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with mentoring and guiding highly technical engineers

Additional preferred technical experience:
  • Experience as an information security professional designing secure solutions in an environment comprised of systems handling confidential, personal and proprietary information
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements impacting business lines, such as HIPAA, GDPR, SOX, etc. as well as experience with NIST controls and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF)
  • One or more current Cybersecurity or Enterprise Architecture certifications
  • ITIL Foundation Certification
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and growth within architecture field (i.e., training, or architectural certifications such as TOGAF)
  • Experience with Agile SDLC, DevSecOps, CI/CD Pipeline and where Enterprise Architecture will interface, touch, and contribute to solution architects and solution engineers
  • Understands Six Sigma and/or Lean principles
  • Knowledge of financial and insurance industry preferred

Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range
$123000 - $185000 / year

Work Environments
This role offers the ability for in-office, hybrid (blending both office and remote work in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements. You'll work with your leader to determine which option may align best based on several factors.
