The Enterprise Software Applications Developer III, under direction, serves as technical lead for a specific software development project or service. Provides technical oversight for the application of and compliance with technical standards. Coordinates the technical activities of a software development project team. Completes reports and summaries for management and users including project status reports, problem reports, and progress summaries.
CODE PROFICIENCY: Acting as a consultant to campus, you’ll get into the technical details of evaluating university reporting needs. You’ll answer questions and coordinate the technical guidance for application users, maintain consistency in design and documentation. You’ll be asked to participate in the development of custom solutions to meet business needs according to industry best practices.
COMMUNICATION & RELATIONSHIPS: You’ll represent the University and Information Technology Services in a professional manner at all times. This includes preparing and presenting technical information for functional audiences at a variety of public forums.
SOLUTION ORIENTED: Individuals in this position will be eager to learn, is a self-starter and has a passion for customer service. You’ll be looking for creative opportunities to collaborate with the campus community and think outside the box to determine long-lasting solutions. You’ll be expected to be a team player as well as have the ability to work effectively independently.
This position typically works Monday-Friday: 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. May work beyond normal office hours to include evenings, weekends, and peak times as needed.
Although this is a remote position, Texas residents are preferred as you may be requested to attend meetings and special events on campus.
Responsibilities:
Serves as the lead technical liaison to clients and vendors. Monitors client relations.
Approves coding designs. Coordinates the integration of multiple code designs to ensure compatibility.
Provides technical oversight and coordination for coding in accordance with established standards.
Oversees the process used to review and analyze software documentation and production results to facilitate problem resolution.
Creates, evaluates, and approves test plans.
Answers questions and coordinates the technical guidance and training provided to application users, oversees consistency with design documentation and participates in the development of system and programming standards.
Participates in data architecture design.
Coordinates the evaluation of software products and programming languages. Makes recommendations based on the evaluation of software products and programming languages for their applicability to the system or project.
Collaborates with the project leader to develop work plans and time schedules for projects including outlining phases, identifying personnel, and computing equipment requirements.
Performs Enterprise Application Development and support for applications such as Banner, Argos, Cognos, DegreeWorks, Blackboard, and others.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five (5) years of related programming experience.
Experience in higher education
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to write SQL and/or PL/SQL queries.
Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Self-starter; ability to work well with minimum supervision.
Experience with reporting tools such as Cognos, Tableau, Argos, and Crystal Reports
Familiarity with automation tools (Automic) and or Excel macros
Experience with Ellucian Banner, Degree Works, ODS and other ancillary systems
Proficiency of the Information Technology Interface Library (ITIL)
Knowledge of advanced analysis, troubleshooting, problem-solving, client relations skills, requirement assessment and analysis, project management methodology, context and interrelationships.
May mentor junior level developers
