Ent Medical Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Medical Assistant provides quality service to all NMOHC patients and physicians in a customer service-oriented environment. This position involves performing various technical duties for routine patient visits. As clinical personnel in a team environment this position requires effective communication skills for a cooperative office. The employee will be required at times to perform under stressful conditions successfully meeting the demands of a large patient population and physician needs. As an employee, and representative of NMOHC, the position requires professionalism in every interpersonal encounter ensuring the values of the organization, commitment to quality care and reinforces and adheres to the core values of the company to achieve the mission and vision.

Essential Functions Statement(s):

• Greets and electronically logs in patients arriving in the clinic utilizing appropriate tracking events.
• Obtains patients vital signs including weight and height.
• Records patients vital statistics in the EMR.
• Escorts patients to treatment chairs and prepares them for the nurse.
• Prepares treatment chairs and exam rooms for patient appointments/procedures, keeping the chairs/rooms neat and clean.
• Cleans and sterilizes equipment or instruments and properly disposes of contaminated supplies.
• Moves patients between departments and accurately and efficiently tracks to assure good communication.
• Notifies patients of visit delays to assure good communication.
• Understands and follows all safety policies and procedures.
• Performs routine waived laboratory tests and sample analysis. Informs physician and/or nurses of critical results and documents appropriately.
• Responsible for ordering supplies
• Dispose of Biohazard waste on nursing carts as well as near the nursing stations.
• Quality control logs
• Scribe
• Training for new employees
• Daily/Weekly quality checks on instruments
• Triage Calls
• Prescription refills
• Submits charges and updates MARS
• Patient Education
• Administer injections
• Therapeutic phlebotomy and IV starts
• Knowledgeable of treatments and procedures
• Any other duties as assigned

Requirements

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Education and Experience:

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
• Medical Assistant Certificate or Diploma
• Certified Medical Assistant, CMA preferred
• Demonstrated competency per department duties
• Related job experience preferred

Computer Skills:

Basic computer skills, Microsoft Office, EMR and related systems
