Engineering Technician, Tooling

Tesla Energy is looking for a highly skilled Engineering Technician to build, rework, and maintain Service and Installation tooling for commercial-residential energy products, with sheet metal work proficiency and the ability to train others.

The ideal candidate has a good mix of mechanical and machine shop skills and possesses strong hands-on assembly skills.

Responsibilities

• Ability to establish and maintain a positive report with supervisors from multiple areas, as this position works closely with multiple engineers from different backgrounds
• Lead prototype fabrication workstream – sourcing of parts, fabrication, and then testing
• Build Mechanical & Electrical tooling assemblies & subassemblies & carry out validation
• Lead field trials of prototype tools and procedures
• Carry out RCA on faulty incoming tools from the field
• Forklift certified preferred
• Ability to travel 5-10% of the time

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal and communications skills
• Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and ability to change direction quickly
• Hands-on Field assembly experience preferable in renewable energy
• Great mechanical fabrication & electrical prototyping skills & familiarity with the use of hand tools and power tools
• Experience working with CNC lathe and mill
• Proficient in sheet metal fabrication – experience using CNC laser, brake press, and shear
• Some experience with MIG & TIG welding aluminum, steel and stainless steel
• Ability to establish and maintain a positive report with supervisors from multiple areas, as this position works closely with field service engineering
• Ability to communicate with the wider service team clearly and effectively and capable of providing concise procedure & tool feedback back to the tool designer/process creator
• Flexibility to work on projects with an aggressive timeline and rapidly changing priorities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $47.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week

• 8 hour shift
