Purpose
The purpose of this role is to deliver efficient and effective technical and administrative support and successfully complete assigned projects according to specifications. Specifically, this role provides accurate and timely quantity take-offs, calculations, material control, bid deliveries, GPS support, and builds three dimensional models.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Actively supports Estimating and Field Operation goals and objectives through completing technical/ administrative projects on time, providing ongoing support, and proactively resolving challenges and issues. Uses customer feedback to make improvements to day-to-day processes and procedures.
- Promotes and protects Teichert Construction values including diversity, teamwork, fair work environment, and respect of others in order to maintain a "team" spirit within the district and on project teams; works and cooperates with other disciplines within district.
- Collaborates across functions with particular focus on consistency of technical practices and administrative procedures. Adheres to policies, procedures, and standards that protect the company's interests.
- Promotes and protects the community perception of Teichert.
- Provides essential assistance in the preparation of project proposals through:
o Interpreting construction project designs and drawings to calculate material quantity requirements (i.e. take- offs) for one or more disciplines (earthwork volumes, underground utilities, material, and topside improvements).
o Researching historical data used in estimating function and compiling relevant data for uses in bid proposal estimates.
- Supplies Field Operations with necessary administrative/technical support required for successful completion of construction projects. Examples of administrative/technical support may include building three dimensional models in a computer software application for the use by the field crews to build projects, and/or assisting field operations in preparing sewer line inspection DVD submittals for the agencies to support the underground specialty.
- Contributes to the smooth operation of Teichert Construction through effective implementation of day-to-day activities such as picking up plans, delivering bids, copying plans, and archiving plans.
- Assists in achieving a zero injury culture through supporting safety programs and actively participating in appropriate safety meetings and training sessions in an effort to maintain a safe and healthy work environment and to meet corporate safety standards.
- Builds and maintains positive working relationships with internal and external customers. Communicates company and project policies, procedures, and standards. Gathers, and incorporates, feedback into improvements to procedures, equipment, Engineering Services, and business practices.
- Completes internal administrative organization and documentation, including project logs, files, records and reports pertaining to the Estimating and Field Operations functions.
Qualifications, Requirements & Competencies
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering , (or related field) or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience
Experience & Industry Expertise:
- Minimum of two years experience/knowledge of construction engineering and/or surveying experience, reading blue prints, or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience.
Specific Job Requirements:
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background investigation
- Valid Driver's License
- Current on all company required safety training
- Strong knowledge of surveying technology and equipment
- Knowledge of geometry and basic trigonometry
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints; Ability to utilize computer aided drafting software and equipment to calculate material quantity requirements
- Knowledge of company's Standard Operating Policies and Procedures
- Ability to appear for work on time
- Ability to work overtime as required
