JOB SUMMARY:
Covr is seeking a highly skilled, customer-obsessed Engineering Team Lead – UI/UX to focus on our Advisor & Consumer facing apps. You’ll be the expert in what is possible across our web platforms and how to get the best experience across. You’ll demonstrate breadth by helping upskill the Engineering team on standardized front-end components, as well as creating functional designs in either Figma or Adobe XD to showcase our platforms capabilities. This role is for a hands-on leader who establishes a vision and strategy, scales their impact by empowering other engineers on the team, and is a key contributor to design & software artifacts. The right candidate will help develop mockups and designs for new & upcoming features, and employ best in class standards for WCAG compliant & multi-lingual applications. This candidate will also contribute significantly to developing our Advisor platform and working closely with the Director of Solutions Engineering & CTO to define the vision for building our platforms in AWS.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Illustrate design ideas using storyboard, process flows, & wireframes.
- Ensure product designs are on-brand and aligned with product goals, established design strategies, and modern design trends.
- Produce product mockups using Adobe XD or Figma (or other similar design tools) to present to both internal stakeholders, new & existing customers.
- Work directly with Product Owners & Stakeholders to produce interactive designs to accomplish business & project goals.
- Hands-on Software development as defined by specifications and test plans.
- Assists in designing and delivering complex applications for internal and external use, utilizing modern, innovative and creative approaches to software development.
- Designs strategies for future development projects based on the company’s overall objectives and resources.
- Follows documented software development standards.
- Monitors reliability and performance of all internal systems.
- Manages software development projects by setting requirements, goals, and timelines.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Information Technology field (MIS, CIS, CS) or demonstrated equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of experience with modern JavaScript frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue, etc.), expert at designing and building reusable web user interface components
- Experience using Git or other software version control system
- Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and HTTP web stack, RESTful API services
- Deep understanding of UI/UX principles and standards
- Experience with Adobe XD or Figma (or other similar design tooling)
- Experience creating mock ups & working designs to showcase to internal stakeholders & customers
- Experience in Test-Driven Development (TDD) and/or Behavior-Driven Development (BDD)
- Experience with Unit, Integration & Application testing
- 2+ years of experience building backend web APIs in TypeScript/NodeJS or C# .NET
- Experience with Relational Database systems (MSSQL, MySQL)
- Experience with NoSQL (MongoDB, DocumentDB, AWS DynamoDB)
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Technology Development Stack including ASP.NET (MVC design patterns)
- ORMs such as ADO.Net Entity Framework, Dapper, Hibernate
- Working knowledge of software version control (Git branches etc) and ALM/SDLC/Project management tools such as Jira, Gitlab, Github, or Azure DevOps
- Development and implementation of “enterprise level” applications using an n-tier and microservice models
- Experience developing cloud-native distributed systems, following industry standard patterns
- Experience building user interface components using a modern web stack (e.g., React, Angular, Vue, etc.), preferably using TypeScript
- Experience working with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to work efficiently in a distributed team environment
- Ability to communicate with a variety of audiences (business analysts, development Team Leads, developers, system administrators, subject matter experts)
