Engineering Summer Intern Ft. Wright

The Intern will be responsible for providing technical support focusing on mechanical/chemical engineering projects and assisting with new opportunities that will have a significant impact on business objectives. The Intern will assist the engineering department with projects from scope definition through implementation.

Requirements:

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Composite or Mechanical Engineering
• Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Willing to work in a chemical plant.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to use measuring devices.
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and team-building skills to create effective working relationships with suppliers and coworkers.

Essential Functions:

• Assist with special projects such as maintenance inventory, critical spares inventory, and Plant Equipment identification.
  1. Become familiar with plant process and equipment layout.
  2. Identify critical equipment needs.
  3. Help update and generate equipment procedures.
  4. Become familiar with preventative maintenance systems and procedures.
  5. Assist in developing and updating work instructions.
• Partner with manufacturing professionals to increase reportability of efficiency and make suggestions for the removal of bottlenecks.
  1. Automate manual data collections to measure metrics.
  2. Present data in an organized, clear, and insightful manner for individuals of various backgrounds.
  3. Analyze data and present production improvements to eliminate and reduce bottlenecks.
  4. Work on maintenance improvement projects.
• Work with Engineering staff to support plant projects, both capital and ops/maintenance.
