Job Title: Engineering Sr Analyst
Location: St Paul, MN (Partially Remote)
Duration: 12 Months Contract to hire
Supplier note:
Must Have skills - SAP ABAP / HANA background (S/4)
Nice to Have - Java background, Understanding of AWS
Team Size - 20 to 30
Year of experience - more than 5 years
Interview Process: 2 round of interviews (1st with Manager and 2nd with team - Technical Round)
Must Have:
  • 5-10 years' experience in a combination of Informatica (ETL) experience or experience in developing in vendor specific languages or Object-Oriented language development experience (Java)
  • 5-10 years' experience in SAP ABAP or HANA development with the ability to translate code from other languages into this.
  • 5-10 years' experience with relational databases.
  • Basic understanding of AWS or other cloud providers.
  • Experience in accounting systems or processes.

  • AWS Certification
  • SAP Certifications
  • Snowflake database knowledge
Job Description:
  • This contract to hire engineering position is part of the Financial Product Ecosystem (FPE) project team at CLIENT.
  • FPE is our core accounting processes and systems that integrate with accounting and financial reporting for our organization.
  • Modernizing the FPE is the largest implementation of an FPE in CLIENT's history and there are over 30 individuals currently working on this initiative.
  • This individual will be part of the team accountable to achieve exceptional service functions including configuration, root cause identification, and solution recommendation. They will work closely with their teammates and business partners to fully understand the user functionality, pain points, and areas of improvements within our applications. Additionally, they will document current to future state SAP processes and role mapping of functionalities.
  • Hiring manager is looking for a team player with strong written and verbal communication skills who is not afraid to challenge the way things have always been done. A candidate in this position is also expected to dig in and help out in whatever way the team needs.
  • Hiring manager requires resource to work in a hybrid environment which currently means working 8-10 days in a month at our facility and being available for occasional off-hour on-call support.
Position Summary:
  • The CLIENT's is seeking an engineer to own the transition, and continued maintenance of a portion of our data flows and integrations into and out of the FPE system to the FPE team.
  • This role will also include the technical support of the financial and accounting platforms.
  • Running a best-in-class technology portfolio, this role plays an integral part in shaping the firm's processes, standards, best practices, and strategies.
  • The right candidate will have strong system and database administration skills, analytical skills, and be able to maintain positive relationships with business and vendor stakeholders including being responsible for efficient issue resolution and escalation to maintain FPE functionality.
  • This role is part of a fast-paced agile team relied upon for delivering technology solutions for CLIENT's finance management areas.
Job responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Reviewing original functional specifications or process documentation, conducting meetings with SMEs to understand changes made after original programming completed, and documenting the current state of what the processes need to do.
  • Collaborating with the technical leads and Enterprise Architecture to understand strategic and tactical direction for how the processes will be replaced.
  • Collaborating with business areas affected by the changes and document potential new enhancements to be included (if it will not significantly increase scope for the re-write).
  • Updating or creating the functional specifications as well as update any process flow diagrams.
  • Updating or creating needed test scripts.
  • Collaborating with the developer and data engineers on the process as it is developed and as any necessary interim tables would be created.
  • Scheduling and leading meetings including sharing minutes.
  • Collaborating with data engineers to articulate interim table needs and help design the databases.
  • Creating, running, and documenting unit testing and help with debugging any issues found during UAT.
  • Working to migrate to production mode (and get any scheduling of process done using Control-M).
  • Effectively communicating insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management.
  • Assisting with the delivery of special projects/enhancements.
  • Performing data translation and data flows/integrations into and out of the FPE system.
  • Implementing and maintaining data security and confidentiality.
  • Understanding compliance and risk constraints.
Requirements:
  • Good communication and writing skills.
  • Strong data analytics skills.
  • Knowledge of relational databases and how they're structured.
  • Willingness to try/learn new things, learn on the fly, and be comfortable with being "uncomfortable". This is especially important as we look towards utilizing AI and investing in SAP BTP or datasphere.
  • Good process and flow documentation skills.
  • Can and is willing to dig in and debug.
  • Knowledge of and has a mindset for understanding compliance and risk constraints in finance and has a mindset for keeping the data secured and confidential.
  • Is an "outside the box thinker" and a detective, looking for ways to improve process or gain efficiencies in processing times or flows.
  • Knows object-oriented development languages (Java) and has skills with either SAP development (e.g. ABAP or HANA), Informatica (ETL), or has experience developing in vendor specific languages.
  • Has a balance of seriousness and fun.
  • Ability to work with Project Manager, prioritize, and keep tasks on-schedule.
  • Self-motivated and independent with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility for work.
  • Strong technical aptitude, with proven experience with technical help desk and software support activities preferred.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills, with experience working both independently, and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey technical information and facilitate understanding of system capabilities and limitations to non-technical users.
  • Prior experience within the Finance industry is preferred.
