The Engineering Operations Manageris responsible for the operational excellence of Research and Development through leadership, analyses, continuous improvements, and communications covering a broad range of operations including new product initiatives, cost improvement projects, change management processes, technology sharing, and global team collaborations. Encompassed within principles of continuous improvements, this role seeks to advance best practices within department operations and proactively evaluate delivery effectiveness among internal & external stakeholders. This managerial role also provides leadership in talent acquisition, employee development, onboarding progression, and expense budget planning and reporting. .
This position will serve our Water Heater Division, located in Montgomery, AL or Roswell, GA.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Maintain dashboard of department key performance indicators (KPIs), tracking of department goals, oversight of expense spend vs budget, assessments of operational efficiency and delivery on commitments.
Facilitate cross functional operational improvement workshops (Product Development Revolution), engage in follow-ups for progression and development, soliciting topics for exploration and change, and examining matters linked to operational excellence.
Periodically report on resource utilization and availability of engineering staffing within company product portfolio management (PPM) tool and assess resource adjustment opportunities for optimized project business return.
Conduct outreach and host periodic cross business engineering collaborations (domestic and global), foster sharing technology bodies of knowledge and nurturing culture of enterprise engineering teams.
Assist Engineering Leadership in preparing presentations, progress reports, stakeholder surveys, research tax summaries, and operational assessments for communications and sharing into business updates and other company strategic meetings.
Collaborate with Human Resources and Department Leadership in all aspects of the talent acquisition recruitment, resume review, interviewing, balancing needs with resource planning, recommendation of candidates, and placement of co-op roles within R&D.
Champion Employee Development through in-house and external training programs (Rheem Certified Engineer) comprised of engineering, technical and business content to support continuous learning, professional development, and experiential growth.
Maintain onboarding program and training tools targeted for the progression of team members, accelerating engagement, and introductory learnings about R&D operations.
WHAT YOU NEED
Bachelor's degree in business, innovation, finance, engineering or other technical field
5-7 years of experience involved with product development, process analysis and/or lean process development
Ability to work across functions (i.e. engineering groups, operations, suppliers, marketing, supply chain, and customer service) while exhibiting a strong element of assertiveness.
Demonstrate effectiveness in building ad hoc teams, gaining assistance for initiatives within a matrixed organization, and driving initiatives with influence skills.
Project management experience and experience with analytical problem solving, quantitative analysis, and communicating insights to senior management.
Professional skills in communications and collaboration, both written and verbal
Self-motivated in advancing best practices to support delivery of commitments
Possess a positive attitude, paired with professionalism and high emotional intelligence.
Ability to handle confidential matters and special assignments.
Excellent organization and priority setting skills.
Ability to lead projects/initiatives and guide supportive work with outside providers
Ability to influence project decisions and prioritization
Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office Suite

HOW TO STAND OUT
Master of Business Administration or Master of Engineering Management
Attainment of Project Management Profession (PMP) Certification
Experience with resource/project management systems such as Clarity PPM (or similar)
Experience in design of consumer appliances, automotive or other white goods
Advanced Excel (VBA, Macros, Pivot Tables, V-Lookup, etc.) & PowerPoint skills
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, etc.
Prior experience with business operations, operational data analysis, and process refinements
