Job description:
You will be the technical lead for the development and support of syringe pumps, valve controllers, and related components. Experience with stepper/servo motors and controlling them is important to the design of these products. Under the Supervision of the General Manager, the Engineering Manager provides the department with the technical discipline expertise needed for the design of high-quality products. Lead the Engineering group and collaborate with Sales, Customers, Quality Assurance, and Technicians to create high-quality products which meet customer design requirements.
Responsibilities:
Includes the following: (Other duties may be assigned)
- Manages product and process development within the organization.
- Participate in hiring and management of Engineering team members.
- Maintain and monitor project status of direct reports relative to project assignments.
- Review, manage, and maintain relevant records such as Engineering Change Orders, FMEAs, PFMEAs, and history files.
- Working with Design, Mechanical, Software & Firmware, and Customer’s Engineering teams to fully specify their product requirements, promote design approach, and participate in design reviews.
- Plan and maintain product development schedule with a team of Engineers, Technicians, and Prototype Fabrication Specialists and report on status.
- Implements and maintains policies and procedures for designing, testing, and manufacturing.
- Reviews and approves new or revised testing or manufacturing procedures.
- Management of project schedules, deliverables, and fulfilling requirements.
- Cooperate with quality team to ensure product design follows ISO 13485 standards.
- Design activity includes circuit design, component selection, PCB layout, and mechanical assembly. A bonus but not required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Overall leadership and organizational skills
- Experience in allocating resources to meet critical deadlines.
- Experience in conceptualizing system architectures and writing appropriate specifications.
- Ability to motivate and inspire a group, and to form collaborative relationships with other internal organizations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working in instrumentation design in the clinical or life science industry is a plus.
- Working knowledge of electronics and firmware development.
- Working knowledge of precision mechanisms and motion control (stepper and servo motors).
- Experience in managing engineers, designers, and technicians.

Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand, reach and lift.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
