Summary:

The Engineering Manager plays a crucial role in leading the software development team, focusing on both the creation of new software applications and the maintenance of existing ones. With over 10 years of experience in software engineering, the ideal candidate will exhibit outstanding leadership qualities, steering the team toward success. This role involves overseeing project development, managing team dynamics, and driving the production of innovative products that push the company forward.

Essential Functions:

• ·Direct architectural design of complex web applications using the MERN stack, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Lead and manage the software development team, promoting a culture of innovation and excellence.
• Conduct and supervise code reviews, maintaining high standards in coding practices and adherence to best practices.
• Facilitate collaboration with cross-functional teams for the development and enhancement of web applications.
• Address and manage performance bottlenecks to ensure optimal application performance.
• Partner with security engineers and analysts to uphold security best practices in the software development lifecycle.
• Maintain and update technical documentation, including architecture diagrams and design specifications.
• Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure a competitive technology stack.
• Exhibit strong leadership in a team-oriented environment, emphasizing detail orientation and a strong sense of responsibility towards clients and users.
• Independently lead projects with minimal supervision and seek guidance from senior IT management as needed.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and one-on-one meetings with team members to discuss progress, provide feedback, and set goals.
• Assist the Director in preparing and managing the budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
• Manage project timelines, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope.
• Mentor and guide development teams, fostering professional growth and skill development.

Qualifications or Competency:

• 10+ years of experience in a senior software engineering role, with expertise in MongoDB, Express.js, React, and Node.js.
• Proficiency in front-end technologies like HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Skilled in RESTful API design and implementation.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
• Deep understanding of software development best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, and version control (Git).
• Background in building enterprise-level software, particularly in healthcare, is advantageous.
• Proven track record of leading, deploying, and managing large-scale, high-availability services.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor development teams effectively.

Supervisor Responsibilities:

This position will have direct reports and standard managerial responsibilities.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office-based environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Position Type:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Schedules must be approved by supervisors.

Core Business Hours:

Working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with in-office attendance required four times per week with the rest of the time being remote. More days in the office may be required as needed. Occasional after-hours coverage may be necessary. This position will participate in the on-call rotation.

Travel:

Travel for offsite training or meetings may be required and it is estimated to be less than 5%.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

Master’s degree is a plus.
