POSITION PURPOSE:
The Lab Technician position is responsible for conducting formalized tests, writing test reports, and all formal communication of test results. In addition, this position will be responsible for the reviewing work orders for material availability, cutting processing components, and building full assemblies. This position reports directly to the Engineering Lead.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to excel at the essential functions assigned. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required.
Experience
  • Previous experience in an engineering test lab and/or shop environment
  • Previous experience using lab equipment/tools and shop equipment/tools
  • (3) years relevant work experience

Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specification
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint presentation.
  • Basic knowledge of shop/lab equipment and tools
  • Basic knowledge of CNC programming
  • Basic knowledge of 5S principles
  • Basic knowledge of PLC programming
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D Inventor, or equivalent software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2 year degree preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Responsible for obtaining all relevant test materials, conducting requested tests and all relevant communication to stakeholders
  • Responsible for maintaining and calibrating lab equipment and tools
  • Troubleshoot any basic problems with lab equipment and tools
  • Collaborate with engineers regarding test programs, providing input on best methods and recipes.
  • Provide recommendations based on test results.
  • Create and maintain written SOPs
  • Lead test lab projects
  • Cross functional team member
  • Support sample shop with component processing and full assembly builds, as needed.
  • Consistently deliver the best in customer service. As an employee, demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with customers, visitors and other employees.
  • Champion AWC's mission, vision and values; comply with the policies and procedures, ethical standards and code of conduct set forth by the company.

  • Maintaining construction and performance standards set by the Engineering team in order to provide consistent deliverables.
  • No supervisory responsibilities

SCOPE EXPECATIONS:
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 70lbs
  • Must be able to perform tasks involving standing, bending and lifting (up to 70 lbs)
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear and sit.
  • The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
  • The employee is required to work in a factory and/or lab work environment lifting/carrying/moving products.
  • The noise level in the factory is usually moderate to high and hearing protection may be required on the production floor. Safety glasses and appropriate attire are required on the production floor.

  • Travel Requirements:
    • Typically, travel is not required for this position
