JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
We are searching for an Engineering Designer Intern to join our Engineering Services Office at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University. ARL's purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC).
ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
We are searching for an Engineering Designer Intern to join our Engineering Services Office at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University. ARL's purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC).
ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.
You will:
- Create basic 3D solid models for both fabricated and Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) parts using accepted standards, methods and techniques.
- Create 2D detail drawings for basic fabrication parts using accepted standards, methods and techniques including the application of GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
- Perform Service Center tasks related to documentation control, copying, and archiving. This duty includes the use of ARL's Project Lifecycle Management (PLM) software (Teamcenter) to properly archive and perform configuration management of design documentation.
- Complete required compliance training provided by PSU and ARL related to business systems, safety, and security.
- Build proficiency with all design & data management software tools used to perform design & documentation tasks.
- Continuously learn of design software features, design techniques, standards and specifications.
Required skills/experience areas include:
- 3D CAD Modeling (Solidworks, NX, Inventor)
- 2D CAD Detail Drawing
Preferred skills/experience areas include:
- GD&T
- Mechanical Design
