Engineering Design Technician TR23-52 b.

Position Summary:
This position is within the Engineering department of the Transmission Division at Brazos Electric Power Cooperative. Responsible for the development of CADD drawings and supporting documentation for planned projects with the assistance and at the direction of Engineering Assistants and Engineers. Perform other duties as required.

Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:
Design
Responsible for preparing detailed construction drawings for new projects and modifications to existing facilities using CADD Software (MicroStation) and its associated accompanying software. Maintain both paper and electronic files of drawings and documents. Develop and process work order for projects. Develop project material lists. Prepare “as-built” drawings from field and/or engineering mark-ups. Review completed drawings and material lists for accuracy and conformity to regulatory standards. Update Brazos specification standards and drawing details. Gather information at project sites for application to drawings. Explain drawings to construction or production teams and report needed adjustments to engineering staff. Utilize specific engineering software as directed to produce project documents and drawings. Maintain a strong working relationship with other Brazos employees and member coop personnel.

Support
Direct and provide administrative support such as contract assembly, reproduction and compiling of project data for transmittal as needed. Prepare and interpret specifications and confer with engineering staff to resolve identified problems. Administer paper and electronic drawing transmittal/transfer as directed by senior team members. Perform special assignments as assigned by senior team members.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent certificate plus an Associate’s Degree in drafting or Design Technology. Associate degree in a science related field will be considered with previous proven experience in active design of HV (69kV and above) electrical, substation or transmission facilities using CAD software.

Engineering Design Technician I - (2) years of experience as a Drafter III (total 6 years of drafting experience)
