Description: Engineering Consultant (Distilled Spirits)
About the opportunity:
C&I is an employee-owned, full-service engineering design firm providing engineering/design/project management and procurement services to various clients. We are currently seeking a full-time Engineering Consultant in Distilled Spirits to help us achieve our company mission. This person will be part of the Process team which is responsible for developing process designs for distillery and beverage facilities among other clients - both at a high conceptual level and detailed design.
Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with the Distilled Spirits Project Manager to represent C&I Engineering to clients. Act as a subject matter expert in distillery operations and design, effectively communicating engineering concepts to clients.
- The Engineering Consultant will provide guidance and mentorship to department staff in distillery operations, equipment, and design processes, ensuring the transfer of knowledge and best practices.
- Perform a wide range of computer-based modeling, design, engineering, and planning tasks to support project objectives and client needs.
- Create and develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- The Engineering Consultant will provide input for equipment layout designs.
- Lead the process/mechanical design team, overseeing the planning and reviewing of work by support staff to ensure project goals are met.
- Utilize Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) and spreadsheet tools to evaluate existing equipment or provide recommendations for the design of new equipment, such as pumps, exchangers, stills, and vessels.
- Mentors department staff in distillery operations, equipment, and design processes.

Minimum requirements:
- Graduation with a Bachelor's degree or higher from a four-year ABET accredited engineering program; OR PE license. AND, 10 years of related work experience preparing construction documents in a multi-discipline engineering environment demonstrating a progressive increase in responsibility and technical difficulty of work;
- OR, Graduation with a Bachelor's degree or higher from a four-year ABET accredited engineering technology program, AND, 12 years of related work experience preparing construction documents in a multi-discipline engineering environment demonstrating a progressive increase in responsibility and technical difficulty of work
Qualifications that set you apart:
- Professional Engineer License
- Prior work experience in Distilled Spirits or beverage plants, food science, or quality control
- Construction experience in processing plants
