Our engineers are at the forefront of design and construction projects related to riverine and habitat restoration on the San Joaquin River and its tributaries.

Out of the South Central Region Office of the Department of Water Resources, a Water Resources Engineer has the opportunity to conduct river restoration studies and projects encompassing aspects of hydrology, hydraulics, and geomorphology. The engineer will assist in the design of restoration projects and can work on a restoration project from study, to design, construction, and completion.

The position will be headquartered at the South Central Region Office in a brand-new building in Fresno with opportunities for telework.

Department of Water Resources (DWR) was established in 1956 by the California State Legislature. We manage California’s WATER RESOURCES, systems, and infrastructure, including the State Water Project, in a responsible sustainable way.

Our ideal candidate will have a strong interest in rivers, habitat restoration and enhancement, flood management, and the evaluation, development, design, and implementation of these types of projects.

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with effective oral and written communication skills, broad computer skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, the ability to work effectively with others in a team environment, and the knowledge of water-related engineering principles. Experience with hydraulic, hydrologic, and drafting software is a plus!
