Job description

Under direction of the Senior Engineer, WR, performs a variety of field and office engineering assignments in connection with engineering design, drafting and inspection to ensure that construction contracts managed by Pearblossom Project Headquarters (PBPH) for the State Water Project and other assigned facilities are completed on schedule and per specifications.

Department of Water Resources (DWR) was established in 1956 by the California State Legislature. We manage California’s WATER RESOURCES, systems, and infrastructure, including the State Water Project, in a responsible sustainable way.

Special Requirements

Must possess a valid California driver's license when conducting State business that requires driving a vehicle. May be required to travel on public roadways including traveling to remote areas. Travel on short notice and overnight lodging will be required on some trips.

The position also requires that the incumbent be alert around the operation of construction equipment and be able to perform safely in and around construction sites.

We are seeking candidates who can handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines, taking initiative and being resourceful in meeting challenges, interacting with contractors, and maintaining a high level of professional and technical expertise. The candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. The incumbent is required to have a broad knowledge of construction practices required for field inspection and practical application of the methods, procedures, materials, equipment, and accepted safety practices used in major engineering construction projects. The incumbent must also be able to plan, organize, lay out, and assign work for others, calculate material quantities, compute work progress, analyze plans and specifications, make technical inspections for compliance with specifications, and make recommendations as to necessary changes.
