By joining our Department of Highways, District 4, Campbellsville Section as an Engineer-In-Training II youwill have the opportunity to perform intermediately complex engineering work on projects with a larger scopeof work to develop practical skills in support of academic theory to provide sufficient competence to qualifyfor registration as a professional engineer under KRS Chapter 322; and performs other duties as required.(Engineering decisions by positions of this class must be reviewed and approved by a KRS Chapter 322 LicensedProfessional Engineer.)
Holders of the Engineer-In-Training II position will complete tasks such as:

- Oversee various size maintenance and construction projects. Prepare estimates for maintenance projectsto be let to contract
- Review plans for upcoming projects for constructability and accuracy of quantities
- Sample materials for compliance on construction projects
- Document work performed on projects and ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
- Experience in materials sampling procedures and certifications.
- Learns to prepare estimates for projects
- Learns staking and checking constructed roadway features using survey equipment

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:Graduate of a college or university with an accredited bachelor's degree in engineering.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Must have two years of engineering experience as an Engineer-In-Training.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Certification as an Engineer-In-Training recognized by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors. http://kyboels.ky.gov/. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this title will perform duties in an office and/or field setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
