The City of Fayetteville is seeking an experienced Engineer II to assist in the private development review and permitting for the Engineering Division. This critical role serves as a key member of an outstanding team committed to serving our customers with pride and respect by understanding their concerns and transforming them into action and responsibly evaluating proposed developments by adhering to codes and regulations.
The ideal candidate will be a results-oriented leader skilled in civil engineering principles with progressively responsible experience in stormwater permitting and enforcement. A persuasive, encouraging and detail-oriented individual that embraces challenges and turns them into opportunities is essential. The selected candidate must have a NC Stormwater Control Measures (SCM) Reviewer Certification and NC SCM Inspection & Maintenance Certification issued by the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) or the ability to obtain them within six months from the date of hire.
While evaluating proposed developments, one of the primary focuses of the selected candidate will be to provide proper management of the quantity and quality of stormwater runoff to minimize damage to public and private property, ensure a functional drainage system, reduce the effects of development on land and stream channel erosion, promote compliance with and maintenance of water quality standards, and facilitate economic development while mitigating associated flooding and drainage impacts.

Experience:
Two years of increasingly responsible professional experience in civil engineering.
Training:
Equivalent to a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.
LICENSING & CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:
Possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license and ability to maintain insurability.
Preferred:
Registration as an Engineer in Training (FE Exam).
From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last 4 - 6 weeks. The process will consist of a panel interview with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment drug screen, background check and driving history check.
