We are searching for an experienced Engineer II, Development at our Headquarters facility in Fountain Valley, CA.

Tomorrow's most advanced automotive technology is being envisioned today at MOBIS Parts America (MPA). A subsidiary of Hyundai MOBIS, we are a top leading automotive parts supplier. MPA provides after-sales service parts support for Hyundai Motors, Kia Motors, and Genesis. In addition to the distribution of genuine service parts, the MPA Accessories division develops accessories for Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis - which are installed on new vehicles in the United States and Canada.
Description
The Accessory Development Sr. Engineer, while responsible for their own projects, will supervise and mentor other engineers to guide new accessories through the development process from initiation to production and provide input on specifications, design criteria and approval requirements. Will supervise and help maintain that all department members follow established engineering processes and guide suppliers, customers and internal Mobis resources to see that issues are resolved promptly and projects completed on time.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engineers in accessory design reviews and utilization of engineering resources to ensure milestone readiness including 100% on-time launch. (40%)
  • Using engineering principles, CAD and available engineering tools, execute design analysis and evaluation of assigned projects to assure all products meet all State and Federal regulations and established design standards. (30%)
  • Improve accessory quality through lessons learned activities utilizing DFMEA and post development meeting with program shareholders. (10%)
  • Monitor the work of engineers to completeness and accuracy of information. (10%)
  • Mentor new engineers in the design methods and Mobis expectations and enforce adherence to established department policy. (10%)

Key Performance Indicators
Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for this position are the on-time development of assigned project, meeting all specification and warranty cost reduction.
  • Work with external and internal resources in defining new products, generating proposals and project plans, and developing appropriate product performance and validation specifications. Conduct status meetings with suppliers and customers.
  • Create, maintain and approve engineering documentation such as Drawings, DFMEA, DVP&R, prototype fitments, specifications, and other engineering documentation.
  • Manage project plans including key deliverables, timeline, and open issues and report on the status of each program.
  • Review and guide work being completed by others, answer questions and mentor engineers.
  • Perform part installations and document fitment, performance and technical issues.
  • Coordinate and attend various communication meetings with customers.
  • Coordinate and/or support APQP and PPAP documentation.
  • Support installation training events at Ports of Entry and Vehicle Personalization Centers.
  • Root cause analysis in troubleshooting development and field issues.
  • Due to the cooperative nature of this type of development this job requires a high level of interpersonal relationship skill in leading other engineers, negotiating with suppliers and representing MPA to our customers.

Work Schedule & Travel Requirements
  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
  • Occasional overnight travel (up to 20%) by land and/or air.

Required Qualifications
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree preferred)

Experience Requirements
  • 4-6 years of automotive industry experience
  • T1 automotive OEM supplier experience preferred.
  • Experience in program management through work experiences or college team projects.
  • Experience in leading others and creating process for managing engineering development.

Skills
  • Working knowledge of CATIA is required.

Employment Type - Exempt
Compensation - Annual Salary; $70,898.31 - 85,978.99
