Job title: Drafter

Date of Creation/Review: May 2023

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Summary/Objective

Responsibilities include following specifications and calculations to create technical drawings, using CADD systems to prepare both rough sketches and detailed work, and ensuring final designs are in line with building regulations. You must also be able to identify potential design problems and communicate them to the rest of the team. You must be able to incorporate knowledge gained from architects and engineers into your drawings. Your duty might also include redesigning products to improve their functionality or creating products manuals or building descriptions.

Essential Functions

  • Read and understand blueprint drawings (both standard and metric)
  • Follow drafting standards set by company
  • Use Microsoft Word and Excel to create the following (Including but not limited to):
    • Equipment Lists
    • Material Lists
    • Commissioning Sheets
    • Calculation Documents
  • Follow specifications and calculations to develop 2D and 3D detailed drawings using AutoCAD (Including but not limited to)
    • HVAC System Diagrams
    • Equipment Cut Sheets
    • Fabrication Drawings
    • Control Schematics
    • Electrical Diagrams
    • D&ID
    • P&ID
    • Equipment Schedules
    • Detail Drawings
  • Work together with Engineers and Project Managers to achieve the following (Including but not limited to):
    • Work from rough sketches and specifications
    • Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets based on current project and team needs
    • Review, redraft, revise drawings
    • Create manuals for projects including existing equipment, operation, features, and maintenance
  • Navigate through 3D models in Navisworks
  • Site visits
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently
  • Ability to respond well to criticism and maintain a positive attitude
  • Ability to draw manually favorable, but not essential
  • Ability to multi task
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, but are subject to change. This position may require long hours and weekend work in order to meet business needs.

Travel

Travel is normally not required, but may be necessary for special projects (domestic and international).

Required Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent

Basic Drafting/Reading Skills

Preferred Education and Experience

2 yr Trade School - Drafting

2 yr College - Drafting & Design

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Team building and collaboration skills are essential to function in this position. Maintains all safety requirements to safely perform all duties required of the position.
