Engineer 1 – Store Orders & Returns (Hybrid - Seattle)
An Engineer 1 is part of a key team of Nordstrom Technology professionals that applies scientific, mathematical and software development principles to design, build, and maintain technology products, devices, systems and solutions. These technology products and solutions provide amazing customer experiences while meeting the needs of the business. The scope, responsibility and accountability at this level supports applications, services, infrastructure and operational components, device software, or networks with minimal supervision.
Nordstrom is seeking an Engineer 1 to join one of the full-stack engineering teams responsible for supporting a set of applications used in Stores for Nordstroms in-store Returns and Orders capabilities. We leverage technologies such as React, JAVA, spring boot, AWS, Kafka, and Kubernetes.
We are a diverse and distributed team that loves working together to increase productivity and produce high quality software using the latest technologies. A day in the life…
- Build efficient systems that are robust, stable and simple
- Write highly maintainable, easy to understand code for web services and web app following secure coding practices
- Demonstrate foundational understanding of standards, concepts and principles of engineering to solve practical needs of the business
- Validate all scenarios and conform to code quality through complete and automated unit, integration and end-to-end testing
- Identify performance issues and optimize solutions
- Instrument code appropriately across the solution
- Ensure adherence to Engineering best practices across entire solution
- Collaborate with other software engineers on design, best practices and conduct code reviews
- Provide on-call operational support on rotation
You own this if you have...
- Previous internship experience preferred
- Bachelors or Masters degree in CS, Engineering or equivalent practical experience
- Proficiency coding in JAVA and JavaScript
- Familiarity with front end frameworks and workflows such as React, Redux is a plus
- Curiosity and desire to learn newer and emerging technologies and be a full stack engineer

Pay Range Details
The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.
Washington: $88,500 - $162,500 Annually This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more. Eligibility requirements may apply based on location, job level, classification, and length of employment.
