Job description

Jacobs Technology provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and Launch Services programs.

 

Planner support for Ground Systems Support Department plan development, integration, critical path analysis, resource forecasting and implementation scheduling to include operations and maintenance activities located in multiple operational facilities on Kennedy Space Center (KSC). All work is in coordination with the Kennedy Integrated Control Schedule (KICS) requirements, Artemis Flight Plans and Shop Operations and Maintenance schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced planning for work activities in the Ground Systems Support (GSS) Department located in multiple operational facilities located on Kennedy Space Center requiring.
  • Perform technician resource forecasting, tracking and analysis for GSS new work requests.
  • Develop an integrated maintenance plan for resource analysis and forecasting to determine operational readiness within GSS.
  • Build integrated schedule assessments, develop critical path studies, what-if scenarios, and create mini schedules specific to the GSS Department.
  • Interface with technical shop management, flow management, project managers, engineering, area integrators and other planners and schedulers, to ensure GSS work activities and support are identified in advance and built into GSS plans and schedules.
  • Lead and participate in planning and scheduling meetings with multiple levels of management and groups requesting GSS support.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities daily.
  • Prioritize and resolve plan/schedule conflicts as required.
  • Communicate effectively with multiple customers daily, both verbal and written.
  • Participate in telecoms specific to GSS plans/schedules and provide status and update as required.
  • Track the lifecycle of GSS non-conformance work activities.
  • Track work activities with operational constraints to meet milestone/deliverable dates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications: Bachelor's in a related degree field (e.g., Project Management or Eng.) and three years of experience in related areas; or at least seven years of experience in areas such as management analysis, schedule analysis, and project control functions.

  • Moderate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs to include Microsoft Project.
  • Possesses intermediate knowledge in the Primavera application (scheduling software) to include Primavera logic, work breakdown structure, resource assigning/level loading.
  • Skilled in concise communication, both orally and written. Presentation skills a plus.
  • Skilled in customer service, used to discuss schedule and work area requirements.
  • Practiced at resolving schedule conflicts.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.  
  • Working knowledge of Maximo and Solumina.
  • Possess an understanding of the lifecycle of work authorization documents.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Essential Functions

 

Physical Requirements 

  • May be required to climb stairs in order to access equipment for trouble shooting.
  • Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment.
  • Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
  • Physical requirements are: sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
  • Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.

 

 

 

 

Work Environment

 

 

  • Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
  • Position may require daily individual to travel to different areas on site.
  • Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.
  • Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
  • All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.

  • Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules.
  • Variety of equipment used in performing research.

 

 

 

 

Attendance

 

 

  • Full-time regular 1st shift work hours between Monday-Friday.
  • Position may require occasional overtime  including weekend work depending on task.
  • Must be dependable and punctual.

 

 

 

 

Other Essential Functions

 

 

  • Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
  • Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • Must comply with all "drug free workplace" requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
  • Government security clearance may be required in the future.
  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
