Position Summary
EBI is seeking a full-time Energy Engineer – HERS Rater. The successful candidate will support projects pursuing the Energy Star Multifamily New Construction certification. The position will require document review, report writing, and field work to support Energy Star New Construction projects in the multifamily market.
This position reports directly to EBI’s Energy Engineer managing our Energy Star New Construction projects and will be a remote, work from home position. The majority of clients this position will support are located in the Southeast so candidates already established in this area are preferred. As this position will be client facing, prior experience and comfortability with traveling approximately 30% of the time is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform design reviews, field inspections, Required Energy Star New Construction testing, general Energy Star New Construction process facilitation, energy modeling and energy audits.
- Gather documents to support ESNC Multifamily project certification
- Perform technical calculations related to efficient building system operation
- Collect relevant information to recommend Energy Conservation Measures
- Knowledge of other green certification types, such as, but not limited to NGBS, Greenpoint, LEED and Enterprise Green Communities.
- Perform NGBS field reviews for properties nationwide
- Serve as point of contact for client questions and project updates
- Energy modeling experience is a plus (eQUEST and REMrate)
Qualifications and Capabilities
- Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering degree
- 3 - 5 years of experience with green building design and construction
- Working knowledge of Energy and Water Efficiency, Operations & Maintenance, and Indoor Air Quality
- HERS Rater in good standing required
- NGBS Verifier accreditation, or ability to pursue in the near future (preferably 2020 standard)
- NGBS Green Master Verifier preferred
- Greenpoint Rater or familiarity with Greenpoint certification program preferred
- Familiarity with Energy Star New Construction Multifamily standards
- Ability to travel on short notice (1 week or less)
- Travel in-state and out-of-state to project sites and to meet with site contacts on an as needed basis (approximately 30% of the time)
