Position Summary:
The Energy Auditor is critical in enhancing the comfort and energy efficiency of homes serviced by the United Community Corporation's Weatherization Programs. This individual is tasked with conducting thorough energy audits, overseeing quality control, and providing training to new auditors to ensure the highest standards of weatherization work are met for all eligible clients.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Audit Execution: Conduct comprehensive energy audits, including multi-unit dwellings, to assess energy efficiency, safety, and health standards.
  • Documentation and Analysis: Take requisite photographs of properties, items for replacement, and overall condition. Document findings meticulously.
  • System Inspections: Evaluate heating and water heating systems for efficiency, safety, and condition. Inspect electrical systems and ensure attic insulation levels meet required standards.
  • Safety Checks: Perform health and safety inspections, including gas leak detection and carbon monoxide level testing, and ensure safe operation of appliances and heating systems.
  • Technical Assessments: Measure conditioned air zone pressures, perform blower door tests, and run NEAT audits as necessary. Assess the need for and condition of exhaust fans, windows, doors, and insulation.
  • Project Oversight: Monitor ongoing jobs, interacting daily with subcontractors and in-house crews to maintain quality and timelines.
  • Training and Development: Train new Energy Auditors, sharing knowledge and best practices to uphold program standards.
  • Reporting: Promptly complete and submit all required audit paperwork and checklists to the assigned operations coordinator.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience in energy auditing, including multi-unit audits.
  • Ability to train and mentor new auditors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of managing time effectively.
  • Understanding of home construction and energy systems.
  • Detail-oriented, with a focus on safety and quality.
  • Valid driver's license and proficiency in English.

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Basic Energy Auditor training and NEAT Certification.

Desired Characteristics:

  • HVAC experience is highly advantageous.
Environmental Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting.
  • Must be capable of lifting to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Able to work under various conditions, including extreme weather, as job demands.
